Our partner is an artist who has combined her love for making jewelry with her father's expertise in ancient Sumerian language. The artist creates unique jewelry using Cuneiform script, one of the earliest systems of writing that was invented by the Sumerians. It is distinguished by its wedge-shaped marks on clay tablets, made by means of a blunt reed for a stylus. The name cuneiform itself simply means "wedge shaped".
This unique set would make a great gift for any occasion.
** Sumer is the earliest civilization in the historical region of southern Mesopotamia.
The Sumerian language is the oldest linguistic record. It first appeared in archaeological records around 3100 B.C. and dominated Mesopotamia for the next thousand years. It was mostly replaced by Akkadian around 2000 B.C. but held on as a written language in cuneiform for another 2,000 years.
